We take the safety and well-being of our campers seriously at the Glamping Experience, and that's why we're proud to have Chris Looney as our Camp Health and Safety Director. As a certified Medical First Responder, former EMT, 2011 EMS Professional of the Year, and former Police Chief, Chris brings over 15 years of public safety experience to our camp. He is dedicated to ensuring that our campers have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Volunteer on the camp Emergency Medical Team

Get ready to have a blast at camp as an Adult Camp Staff (ACS) member! Led by the enthusiastic Director, Abigail Looney, the ACS program is a vital part of ensuring our camp runs smoothly. Part of running a successful camp is planning a well qualified medical response team. We ask that all members of the Emergency Medical Team have professional medical backgrounds in EMS or a nursing license (Medic Tech, LPN, RN, etc).

As an ACS member, you'll have the chance to work a minimum of 4 hours and get access to amazing perks, such as the Camp Staff Lounge, which is fully stocked with special snacks and drinks. Plus, you'll enjoy a discount on your camp registration fee and have early access to registration.

But being a Camp Staff member is more than just perks – it's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our campers and be a part of a supportive and fun community. We're currently looking for volunteers in various areas, and you can find the full list by clicking the "more information" button at the bottom of this section.

To join the ACS program, simply coordinate with Director Abigail Looney no later than May 30, 2023, and get ready to have an amazing time at camp! We can't wait to welcome you to our team.

Camp Medic

At the Glamping Experience, we understand the importance of having a qualified and caring medical professional on staff to ensure the safety and well-being of our campers. That's why we're proud to have Jeffrey Rash as our camp medic.

With experience in public safety and as a certified Medical First Responder and School Resource Officer, Jeffrey brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our camp. He approaches every situation with a warm smile and comforting attitude, helping our campers feel safe and secure.

Medical Cabin

We take the health and well-being of our campers seriously. That's why we've created a nurturing environment in our "Nurses Building," which has been lovingly renovated and dedicated entirely to our camp's medical cabin.

Our medical cabin features a comfortable treatment area with a workstation for our medical staff to provide personalized care and attention to campers who need it. We also have a washer dryer combination to ensure that campers' clothes and bedding are always clean and fresh.

For those who need to rest and recover, we have a quiet room with two cozy bunk beds, and a restroom with a bathtub to help soothe any aches and pains. Our medical staff also have a private bedroom with a full and twin style bunk bed, ensuring that they are always available and ready to provide care.

During camps, our medical cabin serves as a nurturing space for our campers, with a waiting area and additional beds for those who need to visit our medical staff. We believe that by providing a safe and nurturing environment, our campers can fully enjoy all the activities and adventures that we offer

Camp Medical Emergencies

At our camp, we take the health and safety of our attendees seriously, and we have put together a team of experienced professionals to ensure that everyone is cared for. Our safety and medical staff come with years of experience in public safety and emergency medical response, and are equipped to handle a wide range of situations.

Our medical cabin is fully equipped to respond, assess, treat, and stabilize anything from minor injuries to more serious medical emergencies. We have two AEDs on site, as well as full C-Spine equipment, ensuring that we are prepared for any situation that may arise.

In the unlikely event that a situation requires advanced medical care beyond what we can provide on site, we are located just a short 6 minute drive away from Hedrick Medical Center, a St. Luke's Affiliate Hospital with a 24-hour emergency department staffed by board-certified physicians. Additionally, if ground EMS transport is deemed inappropriate due to the seriousness of the emergency, our campground is less than 7 miles from a Life Flight Eagle Air Ambulance base.

We want all of our attendees to feel safe and secure while at camp, and rest assured that our team of experienced professionals will be there to provide top-notch care and support, should the need arise.

Camp Medical Condiions & Allergies

To ensure the safety and well-being of these campers, we have implemented the following policy:

Upon registration, parents/guardians of campers with medical conditions and allergies must inform us of their child's specific condition(s) and/or allergy(s) on their Annual Health and Permissions form.
All campers with medical conditions and allergies will be provided with a special colored lanyard to wear throughout camp. This will allow all staff members to easily identify these campers and be aware of their specific needs.
Inside the special lanyard, we will discretely include all relevant medical information about the camper, including their medical condition(s) and allergy(s), emergency contacts, and any necessary medical treatments or medications.
We will alert all staff members of any allergens that may be present during class/activity sessions. This includes food allergens, as well as environmental allergens (such as pollen or insect bites) that may affect campers with specific allergies.
Our camp medical staff will work with caregivers of campers with medical conditions and allergies to provide alternative food options when necessary. We will also ensure that all alternative meals are properly stored and prepared.

By implementing these policies, we aim to create a safe and inclusive environment for all campers, regardless of their medical needs or allergies.

Campers with Disabilities

At our camp, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and growth that comes with being a part of a community. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where children with disabilities can participate fully and comfortably.

As a part of this commitment, we follow the guidance of GSKSMO Girl Scouts and make reasonable accommodations for any physical or cognitive limitations a child may have. We understand that every child is unique and may require different types of support, so we communicate with children and their caregivers to assess special needs and provide appropriate accommodations.

We believe that by including children with disabilities in all aspects of camp life, we enrich the experience for everyone. We encourage campers of all abilities to engage in activities, make friends, and learn from each other, creating a supportive and inclusive community where everyone can thrive.
